A steady stream of traffic moved through the GreenTech booth at Pack Expo in Chicago this fall.  Over 44,500 packaging and processing professionals were gathered there to learn about the technologies and services they’ll need to keep their companies ahead of the curve. In addition to researching new packaging and production line solutions, they learned how lighting upgrades in their plants and warehouses can slash their utility bills!


Stocking the Shelves

As the media has reported, food bank shelves are growing emptier as times get tougher. With the holidays approaching, the GreenTech staff decided to pitch in and help restock those shelves. Here is our growing collection of cans, boxes and bags that will hopefully help to make Thanksgiving a happier holiday for some local families.

On October 24, 2010 GreenTech Energy Services’ employees participated in the annual “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk.  This is our second year raising money for The Cure and we raised over $3,000!  The employees of GreenTech Energy Services enjoy supporting our local communities and look forward to helping out again next year.

Staples is not only one of the nation’s leading office products retailers, but it is also in the forefront of the corporate sustainability movement.  Staples’ energy program covers four major areas:  the use of socially responsible vendors, environmental education for its employees and customers, recycling, and energy conservation. It is in this last area that GreenTech Energy Services is able to help Staples work toward its goals.  GreenTech has designed and implemented energy savings solutions for Staples warehouses in Orlando, FL, Lebanon, PA and Levittown, PA, as well as in 44 retail locations throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.


Uniform Lighting for the Uniform People

Cintas, which operates 390 facilities in North America, contracted with GreenTech Energy Services to do an energy efficiency project in its plant in Landover, MD. The retrofit resulted in lower utility bills and reduced energy consumption, but light levels actually improved in every area of the plant.


New Kid on the Block: the ESC PA Chapter

The Pennsylvania Chapter of the Energy Services Coalition met at the Harrisburg offices of Schaedler Yesco on August 27 for lunch and an informational workshop. The event began with group introductions and an overview of the recently formed chapter. The attendees then broke into separate groups, each tasked with forming a committee and setting its goals and responsibilities. GreenTech’s Director of Business Development, Trish Harrington, will be participating on the Outreach Committee, which will be identifying organizations whose members would benefit from learning about performance contracting in Pennsylvania.


Energy Efficiency Upgrades Made Easy

The Direct Install Program run by New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program makes it easy and affordable for small to medium-sized facilities in New Jersey to cut their energy costs. The program pays up to 60% of the costs of replacing lighting, HVAC and other outdated operational equipment with energy efficiency alternatives. To date, GreenTech Energy Services has done the lighting component of over 40 Direct Install projects, from day care centers and laundromats to restaurants and stores. We have developed an efficient system for managing these projects that assures they will be completed on time, within budget, and to the complete satisfaction of the customers. GreenTech has just published a free guide to energy efficiency for warehouses and distribution centers.  The guide includes the basic steps involved in a lighting retrofit, ten of the most effective retrofits a warehouse can implement, and case studies in which companies have cut their energy consumption and costs by up to 50%.
